David and I met 7 years ago on a gloomy and rainy night...just kidding. It was a beautiful fall night and being the social butterfly that I use to be, I was out on a Thursday night. My sorority had just had a bowling night mixer and word on the street, another fraternity was having a small hangout at one of the houses some of them rented. Some of my sisters and I decided to stop by and say hi. And that's where I met David. Except I wouldn't remember his name for weeks because I could barely hear a word over the music. All I remember was this smile that radiated that night. And the fact he was wearing an SF Giants World Series hat (and matching t-shirt). You see, this was the year they had just won their first World Series (2010) being in San Francisco so I clearly remember high fiving him for it. And that's how we kind of met. Later, I would see his picture on Facebook pop up in the "People You May Know" section but that's a story for a later day. Our first engagement photo session were taken with Jaclyn Lanae Photography. My vision for this was very much a kind of rustic yet fairytale feel to it and these are probably some of my most favorite pictures of us ever (at least ones where we aren't at a Disney park). We knew we wanted our pictures to be out in trees and nature so Jaclyn suggested this beautiful location called Roy's Redwoods Preserve. This little open field was stunning to see in photos. It was worth having a spider crawl on me (I HATE SPIDERS). David and I decided to bring all of our props that we found at Michael's. One of our favorites was this picture frame. Clearly David thinks he's Flynn Ryder. These pictures were what we used for our Save the Date magnets so we figured we needed a prop for it. We chose this date as our wedding date because it was as close to the date we met that we could do without it landing on a birthday or an awkward day of the week. I always wanted a fall wedding and wanted it on an even year therefore 11/18/16 was the day we married. Jaclyn was able to capture us during the magic hour and the lighting was such perfection on this day! These pictures in between the redwoods are probably my most favorite of us. They are just absolutely stunning. This picture makes me tear up everytime I stare at it. I feel so absolutely blessed to have David as my soulmate, as my partner in crime and the one I am so lucky enough to call husband. We ended up hiking (yes hiking in those heel boots) up this hill for this AMAZING and STUNNING view. The temperature had dropped immensely by this point but how could we let it bug us when we were surrounded by this beautiful nature? For this photo session, I did get my makeup done at Urban Decay and they did such an amazing job. I could have done my own but I really wanted these to be perfect. I didn't trust myself with the eyeliner because I figured I would have messed it up somehow. My entire outfit was from Ross. I didn't want to spend too much money on a brand new outfit and found the dress for under $20 and the boots were $25. I still wear this dress from time to time and my boots always make a comeback for fall. David made the suggestion to put a little Mickey Mouse on this prop and I loved it. Always adding little Disney touches to our lives. David was able to snag the Walt Disney World Just Engaged buttons (even though we got engaged at Disneyland) before they were discontinued of these. Disneyland had already gotten rid of theirs but thankfully we worked at Walt Disney World still where we could get them. A little bit of magic we will always keep.
Thank you for going down memory lane with me. I always love looking back at all these beautiful moments in life and I can't wait to share about our wedding day real soon!
